The sheet shows five maps which details the discoveries of Capt. Cook in Australia during his first voyage. The main map shows the whole of the east coast in fine detail, with soundings and the tracks of Cook's exploration. The other inset maps are: Partie de la Côte de la Nouvelle Galles Méridionale, Esquisse de la Terre Van-Diemen, Baie Botanique and Entrée de la Rivière Endeavour. Decorated with a large compass rose.

In 1773, Bonne succeded to Jacques-Nicolas Bellin as Royal Cartographer to France. In the office of the Hydrographer at the Depôt de la Marine. Bonne produced some of the most detailed and accurate maps of the period. Bonne died in 1794, his son Charles-Marie Rigobert Bonne continued to publish his work after his death. Size with margins : 46 x 32 cm / 18,1 x 12,5 inches.
