Two volumes, bound in three-quarters with gilt tooling to the spine. These works are illustrated with 96 copper engravings and 24 wood engravings by J. Whichelo, folding engraved map to volume one. This 1817 two-volume set of Walks Through London by David Hughson. Printed for Sherwood, Neely, and Jones in London in 1817. Illustrated throughout and bound in red leather with gilt frames, spine titles, and decorations. 19th-century topographer David Hughson produced several works describing the city of London based on "preambulations", or walks throughout the city. Walks Through London includes detailed histories and illustrations of the most prominent public buildings and the immediately surrounding suburbs including Westminster and Southwark. Tight bindings; loose hinges; page discoloration and foxing; edge and spine wear; bowing. Volume II has had its interior hinge repaired with tape. 96 plates, 24 woodcuts, large folding map. Bound in full period calf, ornate gilt inner & outer dentelles, raised bands, gilt tooling, full gilt edges, colored endpapers.
